We intend to keep this
site full of images. Besides the upcoming galleries that are being created. We will present a photo of the week. This
first week is a postcard view of Lincoln School
Lincoln School is one of Rutherford's neighborhood WaSL (Washington, Sylvan, Lincoln) schools. It was created in 1913
as a sister school to Washington (also 1913) and is somewhat identical in form. It is addressed on Montross and sited
between West Pierrepont and Vreeland Aves. It actually sits on part of one the old Vreeland land holdings sited
along the riverside. It was originally built to hold aprox. 250 students. Many residents remember (and contributed to) the
quant outdoor amphitheater in the back that was lost during the recent expansion of the school.

Just in time for holiday gifts!
A new history book of Rutherford.
Rutherford:
A Brief History is a newly published book describing Rutherford’s rise from 1669 into the Twentieth Century.
It is the first stand alone, indexed historic reference of the borough and is written by local historian William Neumann.
The book's story of Rutherford has been described as "It was a homeland for the Leni-Lenape Indians before it
was settled by tenacious Dutch immigrants. Two centuries later, in 1881, Rutherford, New Jersey, became an independent borough—the
first in Bergen County.
Author William Neumann narrates Rutherford's remarkable transition from a rural retreat
popular for its abundant springs to a bustling New York City suburb. Along the way he introduces some of the town's extraordinary
citizens, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet William Carlos Williams, who led the life of a small-town doctor at 9
Ridge Road, and the local husband and wife team who founded Fairleigh Dickinson University—a love store as much as a
historical achievement."
Rutherford: A Brief History is
156 pages with 115 illustrations including maps, drawings and historic and original photographs. It is just becoming available
locally at many of Rutherford's fine retailers including Goffins, West End Pharmacy, with more outlets
to be added everyday. Also available at Barnes & Nobel and www.Amazon.com.
